Amazon.com will offer same-day delivery of Eli Lilly's new weight-loss pill Foundayo and stock the medication at kiosks located at some of the company's health clinics.
Customers will need a prescription for Lilly's weight-loss pill to order it through Amazon Pharmacy. About half of customers in the U.S. will have access to same-day delivery, Amazon officials told Reuters. All customers receive their medications within four days.
Lilly previously said consumers whose insurance doesn't cover weight-loss medications can buy Foundayo at $149 for a one-month supply of the lowest dose and up to $349 for additional monthly doses. Higher doses start at $299 to $349 for a one‑month prescription under Foundayo's self-pay program.
People with insurance that covers GLP-1 weight-loss drugs might pay as little as $25 per month, Lilly and Amazon said.

Consumers will have several options when purchasing Foundayo. The telehealth provider Ro and Weight Watchers also sell the medications, or consumers with a prescription can order from Lilly's direct-to-consumer pharmacy, LillyDirect.

Novo Nordisk's weight-loss Wegovy pill, which launched in January, is also available via Amazon and telehealth platforms such as Ro, Weight Watchers and LifeMD.
Both Lilly and Novo Nordisk are betting daily weight-loss pills will be a popular option for consumers who want to avoid a shot or have been reluctant to take weight-loss medication due to stigma or other barriers.
Amazon last year announced the kiosks for selling widely used medications such as antibiotics, blood pressure medicines and asthma inhalers, saying the option would reduce barriers to access and limit shipping costs. Amazon has kiosks at five One Medical locations in Los Angeles, but the retailer plans to expand kiosks nationwide.
Patients without a membership to One Medical, Amazon's primary and urgent care business, can still book an appointment and use the kiosks. A One Medical subscription fee costs $199 per year.
