Brooklyn Peltz Beckham and Nicola Peltz Beckham are no longer celebrating the date of their first wedding as their anniversary, PEOPLE can confirm

The couple made the decision due to the “bad memories it holds,” a source told the Daily Mail

The reporting comes amid a public fallout between the couple and Brooklyn’s parents, Victoria Beckham and David Beckham

Brooklyn Peltz Beckham and Nicola Peltz Beckham are no longer celebrating the date of their first wedding as their anniversary, and are instead embracing memories of their vow renewal ceremony.

PEOPLE can confirm that the couple is not celebrating the date of their first wedding, a star-studded ceremony held in Palm Beach, Fla., on April 9, 2022.

The couple made the decision due to the “bad memories” their wedding “holds,” the Daily Mail reported on Friday, Aug. 7.

“Brooklyn and Nicola’s first wedding in April 2022 is not an occasion they look back on fondly. Nicola ended up in tears. It’s not something they want to be reminded of,” a source told the Daily Mail.

PEOPLE has reached out to a rep for the couple for comment.

The couple renewed their vows on Aug. 2, 2025. A source close to the couple exclusively told PEOPLE at the time, “The event is about honoring the love and commitment they’ve built together over the years, and creating a memory that will stay with them forever.”

Just this week, they marked a year since their renewal on their respective Instagram accounts, with a sweet post gushing about the other.

“Happy anniversary Nicola,” Brooklyn’s post began. “I can’t tell you how much I love you x you are my best friend and I love you more than life itself xx I am so lucky to be able to call you my wife xx you are my absolute princess and I promise to always protect you xx ❤️.”

Nicola, 31, called Brooklyn, 27, “my love” as she wished him a happy anniversary. “You make life so beautiful. Thank you for being the most amazing husband I could ever dream of,” the actress added in her post.

Brooklyn and Nicola’s decision comes amid a public fallout between the couple and Brooklyn’s parents, Victoria Beckham and David Beckham, that he has said stems from their wedding.

Rumors surrounding Brooklyn’s strained relationship with his family were heightened after he shared a series of bombshell posts to Instagram Stories in January, accusing his parents of trying to sabotage his marriage to Nicola.

Brooklyn claimed in the posts that his parents had been trying “endlessly to ruin” his relationship with Nicola in the name of publicity and valued “public promotion and endorsements above all else.”

He also claimed his parents tried to “bribe” him into “signing away the rights” to his name before his wedding and that Victoria “hijacked” his first dance with Nicola and “danced inappropriately on me.”

“I do not want to reconcile with my family,” he said at the time. “I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”

Victoria spoke out for the first time following Brooklyn’s claims to the WSJ. Magazine in April. Although she did not address the allegations directly, she told the outlet, “I think that we’ve always — we love our children so much.”

“We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be,” Victoria added. “And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.”

David and Victoria are also parents to sons Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 21, and daughter Harper, 15.
