Chad Lowe's oldest daughter, Mabel, has broken her silence on the death of her little sister.
On Tuesday, September 29, the 58-year-old Hollywood star and producer Kim Painter announced the death of their 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Hepler Lowe, a year after the family lost their home in the Pacific Palisades fire. In a statement, the Lowe family said, "We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona."
They described Fiona, whose cause of death has been revealed, as "a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance," adding, "She was adored by her sisters, and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives." Now, Mabel, 17, has shared her own heartbreaking tribute.

On October 3, Mabel took to Instagram to share an emotional post featuring photos of the two sisters taken throughout their childhood, including one of them dancing together when Fiona was a toddler.
Mabel wrote, "I love you so much, Fiona. I wish your short time here was easier and I hope your mind is at ease now. I will honor you forever and keep your memory alive. I love you, I hope you knew just how much."

On Thursday, October 1, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner ruled that Fiona died by suicide. In their statement announcing her death, the Lowe family concluded, "Her passing is devastating for our entire family, and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.
Fiona, born in 2012, would have turned 14 on November 16. Chad and Kim, who have been married since 2010, are also parents to Fiona's sister, Nixie, 10.
A source told PEOPLE that Chad's older brother, actor Rob Lowe, 62, and the rest of the Lowe family are supporting Chad, Kim, Mabel, and Nixie.

"Rob and Chad are very close. Their family and friends have rallied around Chad and Kim," the insider said. "Everyone's heartbroken." The source added, "They already went through so much with losing their home last year [in the Los Angeles wildfires]. Right now, the focus is on being there for them in any way they can."
Earlier in the year, Chad shared a video on Instagram in which he said he was "blessed" to be a girl dad. He added, "This is what it's all about." Last year, Chad celebrated Fiona entering her teenage years in a post shared to Instagram. "Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!" he captioned a photo of Fiona in 2025. "Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!"
Fiona's death comes a year after the Lowe family home was destroyed in the Pacific Palisades fire. In January 2025, a massive 1,200-acre brush fire tore through the area and Eaton, killing 31 people and destroying about 13,000 homes and other residential properties.
In February 2025, Chad, who is known for his roles in Pretty Little Liars and Supergirl, and won an Emmy Award for his part in Life Goes On, shared that he and his family visited the remains of their home, where all three girls had grown up.
"Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what’s left of their home," he wrote in an Instagram post at the time.

He added, "The way they've handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege."
Marking a year after the devastation, Chad shared on Instagram how the family's lives "got turned upside down by a completely preventable catastrophe."
He added, "It's hard not to let the anger, despair, and frustration overwhelm. Losing everything I ever owned and the home we raised our family in is still deeply painful to this day. However, this terrible experience has been a powerful reminder of this simple truth - we can’t always control what happens to us in this life, but we can control how we respond."
Chad concluded, "And I have been so incredibly proud of how my wife Kim and our daughters have strived to make the absolute best of this extraordinarily difficult circumstance. I am in awe of their resilience."
