Gavin Rossdale recalled a surprising memory involving Britney Spears.

In a Tuesday, April 7 conversation with Sirius XM's Page Six Radio, the Bush musician reflected on a time when he and the Princess of Pop were neighbors.

The hosts brought up a story Spears, 44, had shared a few years prior about swimming with Rossdale, 60, asking if he remembered.

"Of course," he replied. "How could you forget that?"

Rossdale then shared details that he remembered from the experience.

"Well, we were neighbors. And so she came round, I think, when the kids were small, and she was a real character," he recalled.

Rossdale noted that he "got on really well" with Spears.

"She was lovely. She was amazing. We were neighbors. She's a great swimmer," he said of the "Gimme More" hitmaker.

When asked if Spears' kids Sean Preston, now 20, and Jayden James, now 19, whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline interacted with Rossdale's kids Kingston, now 19, Zuma, now 17, and Apollo, now 12, whom she shares with ex Gwen Stefani, he said they were all "too busy chatting with Britney."

Elsewhere in the interview with Sirius XM's Page Six Radio, Rossdale spoke about his parenting style and how he's not trying to raise "jerks."

"That's all I put my mind to, not forcing any doctrine on them. Not too many guardrails. Just be there and make them be cool and nice and kind and sort of interested in other people. And not self-obsessed," he said.

Rossdale continued, "Just try and lift their heads up to the world and see it...I just wanted them to be good people, and they are."

Last month, Rossdale opened up about his co-parenting relationship with Stefani, 56.

"It is an interesting kind of [relationship]," Rossdale told Fox News Digital. "It's a two-lane highway, you know, but they don't ever seem to merge, which is fine.

But Rossdale said that he and the No Doubt singer are just trying to do right by their three kids.

"[She's] probably doing the best she can, and I'm doing the best I can," he said. "And the kids are growing up, so I'm a proud proponent of the system."

Stefani and Rossdale split in 2015. "The Great Escape" artist has been married to Blake Shelton since 2021.
