SOUTH CAROLINA (WCBD) - Governor Henry McMaster proclaimed that October be South Carolina Manufacturing Month, South Carolina Manufacturers and Commerce announced Friday.
The proclamation was presented on Friday at Mercedes-Benz Vans Charleston, coinciding with the launch of the "More To Be Made" campaign, a statewide initiative to promote manufacturing careers.
“South Carolina has earned its place as one of the nation’s top manufacturing leaders,” said McMaster. “Our manufacturers create opportunity, strengthen communities, and produce goods and technologies that move our state and nation forward. Their success is South Carolina’s success, and we look forward to this great industry continuing to thrive for years to come.”

The state's manufacturing industry generates nearly $300 billion in annual economic impact and supports more than 30% of the state's workforce.
