Grant Feely on playing Ted Lasso's teen son: 'I'm just very excited'

The hit Apple TV series Ted Lasso returns this week for its fourth season, bringing Richmond football back to our screens with a new twist. This time out, Coach Lasso is at the helm of the Richmond women's team, which means a bevy of new faces to go with the returning cast of Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt, Juno Temple, Hannah Waddingham, Jeremy Swift and Brett Goldstein.
One of those new faces is in a returning character, with 14-year-old Grant Feely taking on the role of Ted Lasso's son, Henry. The role was previously played by Gus Turner, but recast to reflect the character's age growth. Feely has previously acted in Five Nights at Freddy's, and he played young Luke Skywalker in three episodes of the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Feely had to wait three months after his first audition before he was called back for a chemistry read with his on-screen dad, Sudeikis. "I was so nervous beforehand, but he's a comedian, so he kind of broke the ice with jokes, and he did a lot of improv," Feely said in an interview with For The Win. "I'm good with improv, so I think it went really well. I walked out with it feeling like it went really well."
And indeed it went well. Feely, whose favorite new character is the glove-less goalkeeper that goes by Boots, enjoyed his time on set. He learned about all the different hats one can wear on set, remarking on how Sudeikis, Brett Goldstein and Brendan Hunt fill the roles of actor, producer, director and writer. The newcomer was also just happy to be there.

"I am so excited to be part of this cast because, like I said, I'm a huge fan of Ted Lasso coming into this. So I'm really excited for everyone to see season four and meet -- like, Henry's grown up -- so meet a new version of Henry and meet all this new slate of characters," Feely explained. "I'm just very excited for everyone to see it."
So, what's next for Feely?
That would be heading back to school. "It's so funny. I get to go to all these premieres, do all this fun press stuff, and then I'm just going to school."
At least he has the best answer for all of the "what did you do this summer" prompts. The first episode of Ted Lasso is now streaming on Apple TV.
