New music from Hilary Duff is here!
On Friday, Oct. 2, the pop star and actress released her new single “CATastrophe” for the upcoming Cat in the Hat film soundtrack alongside a music video where Duff gets transported from her home into the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss.
“Dr. Seuss was on repeat in our house for years, so when this came around I didn’t have to think about it,” said Duff, 39, in a statement about the upbeat track, written by the star herself with husband Matthew Koma, Madison Love, and Brian Phillips, and produced by Koma and Phillips.
“CATastrophe” features Duff singing the lyrics, “I put the cat in the catastrophe / Let’s make a mess, who cares if you’re mad at me? / Hey, I got nine lives, let’s live one up tonight / ‘Til it ends, baby, in catastrophe.”
She explained in the statement, “‘CATastrophe’ is about that feeling when your whole world gets picked up and moved somewhere else and nobody asks you first.”

“I wanted it to be honest about those feelings,” added Duff, “and still be something you’d turn all the way up in the car.”
The Cat in the Hat soundtrack is set for a Friday, Oct. 30 release via WaterTower Music. The animated film, starring Bill Hader as the titular character, hits theaters on Friday, Nov. 6.

Earlier this month, Duff announced she’s extending her Lucky Me Tour into 2027 with 32 new tour dates across Europe, Latin America and the U.S. through late 2027.
The tour supports Duff’s latest album, Luck... or Something, which came out in February. She kicked off the run of concerts in June and has performed sold-out shows at venues including the Kia Forum in Los Angeles and Madison Square Garden in N.Y.C.

“Last night I was in my car heading out of the venue, and I heard a bunch of those pedicabs blasting my music with all these people dancing in the street in their outfits,” Duff recently told Vogue in the midst of her N.Y.C. performances. “I don’t really know how to put words to it, but the way people have embraced me on this tour has felt very, very meaningful.”
