Hilary Duff’s 5-year-old daughter Mae needed stitches the morning of Duff’s first sold-out Madison Square Garden show
Duff is on her first music tour in 18 years and has been traveling with her four children
The Lucky Me tour includes U.S. and international stops, wrapping in Guadalajara, Mexico, in February 2027
Hilary Duff might be performing sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden, but there’s one job that still comes first.
The 38-year-old mother of four addressed the crowd on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at her first of two New York City shows, sharing that her day started off pretty stressful.
“My kids are here tonight,” Duff said, grinning. “I can’t believe I get to show them this. We were in the ER this morning getting some stitches for my 5-year-old.”
Duff is mom to 14-year-old son Luca, whom she shares with her ex-husband Mike Comrie, and daughters Banks, 7, Mae, 5, and Townes, 1, with husband Matthew Koma.
The “Growing Up” singer assured the crowd that Mae is “fine” after her hospital visit.
“It’s all good,” she insisted. “But it’s very ‘our family-coded’ that I would be playing my first show at MSG and also be in the emergency room getting my kid stitched up.”
She then shared a sweet message for her little girl, saying, “Mae Mae, you’re very brave.”

The Disney Channel alum has been touring the country on her Lucky Me tour — marking her first time on the road with her music in 18 years. Back in April before the start of the tour, Duff opened up to PEOPLE about fitting her kids into her travels.
“I spent hours with my assistant [looking at] the tour schedule, being like, ‘Okay, I want them here for this stretch. They can go home these days,’ “ she said at the time. “It’s been a lot of logistics that can seriously bend a brain, but it’s going to be an adventure.”
She added that getting to show her kids the country was important to her.

“All of these cities have so much to offer, and I feel like there would be no other time when my kids would see the U.S. like this, so we’re just thinking of it as a big, long road trip,” she said, adding with a laugh, “And hopefully, they don’t get bored with seeing my show every night.”
Duff has one more night at MSG on Aug. 6 before moving on to Massachusetts. The U.S. leg of the tour ends later this month in Michigan before moving abroad, including stops in the U.K., Australia, Canada, Mexico and more. She wraps things up in Guadalajara, Mexico, in February 2027.
