President Donald Trump announced "major combat operations" against Iran on Feb. 28, with massive joint U.S.-Israeli strikes targeting military, government and infrastructure sites.

Delegations from the U.S. and Iran entered negotiations in June aimed at a war-ending deal based on a memorandum of understanding signed by both countries.

The U.S. and Iran have nonetheless continued to exchange strikes, with the strategic Strait of Hormuz the primary flashpoint.

The "general framework" of the agreement between Iran and Oman has been finalized, Hassan Ghashghavi, the spokesman of Iranian parliament's national security commission, said on Friday, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency.

"The final text and details will be announced soon," Ghashghavi said.

However, he added that implementation of the agreement is "subject to final approval at the highest decision-making levels."

Despite the reported significant depletion of U.S. air defense stockpiles, President Donald Trump insisted in a post to social media late on Wednesday night that the U.S. has "massive amounts of 'munitions'" available for use."Additionally, large amounts are being manufactured and shipped to the U.S. as needed. Defense companies are building the largest number of plants and factories in our country's history," Trump wrote.Trump then threatened "leakers" for releasing "treasonous statements" about the matter. The president said the alleged leakers are being "hunted down" and that "long term jail sentences will be sought."In a statement provided to ABC News by the White House on Tuesday, the president said, "We have far more munitions than anyone in the world, and far more than we need."U.S. stocks of air defense missiles have been significantly depleted during the recent war with Iran.
