Hollywood fame can have its downsides. Just ask Matt Bomer.
The *White Collar* actor, who stars in Jonah Hill's new dark comedy, *Outcome*, tells ** that he once had a hair-raising encounter with a starstruck fan.
"I had someone almost hit me with a car," he says during a joint interview with his costars Keanu Reeves and Cameron Diaz. "They were really excited. It wasn't the best way to break the ice, but they didn't mean harm. They just weren't thinking in the moment."

Bomer sets the scene as his costars laugh. "They were turning left and saw me as they were turning, I guess," he explains. "They wanted to say hi, and then pulled over, and it was awkward."
He continues, "I'm always grateful that people have responded to whatever you've done, but that was definitely one of the times it got a little out of hand."
"My God, Matt Bomer, you were causing traffic accidents!" Reeves says.
"No, no. It was one time," Bomer tells his costars.
"I'd crash my car if I saw you on the street," Diaz jokes.

Keanu Reeves in 'Outcome'.
Bomer's anecdote came as part of a broader discussion about how *Outcome* accurately depicts movie stardom. In the film, Reeves portrays Reef Hawk, a superstar actor who realizes he's been mistreating people around him for decades after an anonymous extortionist threatens to publish a video of him that would ruin his career.
The threat rattles Reef and prompts him to apologize to all the major figures from his past whom he's offended or hurt over the years. At one point during the dizzying saga, the actor is accosted by two fans at a grocery store who drastically overshare about how much his work means to them.
Reeves points to that scene as a particularly relatable depiction of fame. "I think in the film when Reef goes to the supermarket…you can have those kinds of really enthusiastic interactions sometimes," he explains. "You're doing your thing in the day, and then someone is sharing their enthusiasm."

Why Rosie O'Donnell says Keanu Reeves was 'one of the worst' guests on her talk show

Diaz shares her perspective on stardom. "Fame is a spectrum," she says. "Everybody experiences it on different levels, and there's no handbook to it, so you don't know how to necessarily go forward within it, but you make your way. And then you're in it, and once you're in it, there's really no going back."
The *Charlie's Angels* star also emphasizes how different the real Reeves is from Reef Hawk.
"There's no similarities. None," she says. "Keanu can be self-reflective without having to be extorted."

Bomer concurs. "Keanu is the first person to care about the well-being of others and how they're doing, how they're feeling," he shares. "Do they need a chair? Are they comfortable? Are they happy?"
Reeves adds, "Reef, not so much. He always forgets about those things."

In the movie, Bomer and Diaz portray Xander and Kyle, two of Reef's oldest friends who stick with him through thick and thin. Bomer said he found far more to relate to in Xander than in Reeves' character.
"I have friends from high school and college who I've just known for a really long time, but I just think of them as friends that I've been lucky enough to have as my friends by my side through good and bad and up and down," he says. "I've been more like Kyle and Xander, honestly, where I've had friends who rose really quickly to really profound heights of stardom. And I watched the sand shift around them and the whole world change, and suddenly there were people jumping out of bushes to take pictures of them. So I think that was my 'in' on this movie."
*Outcome* hits Apple TV on Friday.
