Michelle Branch revealed that she and her Wreckers bandmate Jessica Harp attended a Diddy afterparty in 2004 in a Dec. 15 post to her Instagram Stories
“I don’t remember why we left, but so glad our night was smoking weed and eating tacos with Owen Wilson instead,” Harp claimed in a text message to Branch
Harp wrote that after watching the Netflix docuseries, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, she realized they attended a party where “one of the freak offs absolutely happened”
Michelle Branch is grateful she left a Diddy party early.
In a post to her Instagram Stories shared on Monday, Dec. 15, Branch posted a screenshot of her text messages with her former Wreckers bandmate Jessica Harp about a 2004 MTV Video Music Awards afterparty hosted by Sean “Diddy” Combs that they attended.
Harp, 43, texted Branch a Getty Images photo of the pair arriving at the event with the message, “Not me watching the Diddy docuseries and realizing that one of the freak offs absolutely happened this night 😂🫠.”
“Oh. My. God. I’ve wondered tbh," Branch replied.
“I don’t remember why we left, but so glad our night was smoking weed and eating tacos with Owen Wilson instead," Harp claimed. Branch agreed, writing, “Same lol.”
Branch wrote, “VMA memories w/ @jessicaharp82 🤣,” over the screenshot.
Branch and Harp are longtime friends, and performed together as The Wreckers between 2005 and 2007. The duo released their debut album Sit Still Look Pretty in 2006, which included the #1 hit "Leave The Pieces." They parted ways in 2008 to pursue solo careers.

The Netflix docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning, released earlier this month and executive-produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, details the story of the music mogul’s life up until his 2025 trial. The four-part series covers Combs' rise and fall, including his tumultuous relationship with rapper Tupac Shakur, his alleged abuse of former girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and multiple assault allegations.
In September 2024, the rapper and producer was indicted on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution. Among accusations of sexual assault, prosecutors claim that he used his business empire to orchestrate "freak offs," leveraging his power and influence to force or coerce women into participating in the extended sex parties.

When Combs' homes in Los Angeles and Miami were raided by federal authorities in March 2024, prosecutors claimed they found over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant (“supplies” for his “freak offs”). They further claimed that these “freak offs” would last several days and involve the use of heavy drugs to ensure compliance.
In October, Combs was sentenced to four years in prison for prostitution-related charges. When Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced him, he rejected the defense’s characterization of them as “intimate consensual experiences or just a sex, drugs, and rock and roll story.”
