Penn State misses out on yet another recruit from Class of 2027
Believe it or not, the summer time is almost here and the college football season is rapidly approaching. Penn State has had a strong recruiting cycle in these last few months, building up one of the best 2027 classes in the entire nation, but they've hit a lull as of late. Their last commitment came nearly two weeks ago and they've lost out on numerous prospects in that same time span.
The Nittany Lions had been recruiting three-star safety Jeovanni Henley for most of this year after extending him an offer back in January. They were lucky enough to finish as a finalist for the versatile athlete, but they were unable to close the deal. Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports announced earlier today that Henley committed to the Cal Golden Bears, choosing them over a couple of bigger schools like Penn State and Texas. It would be nice to think the Nittany Lions made a strong push, but ultimately he chose to remain in his home state.

Penn State has a stockpile of recruits expected to join in 2027, so being passed over by Henley isn't the worst thing in the world. But you can never have enough depth, and you just never know what kind of player will display incredible progression. The school seems to be set up well for the future — they've just been stuck in a rut lately that they need to get themselves out of.
