Prince George is second in line to become king.
But before he takes on his role, the young royal has expressed interest in other career paths.
One restaurant owner said that George, at one point, said he wanted to be a chef.
As Prince George starts his first year at Eton College, fans of the royals are waiting to see what type of leader the future king will be. But before the 13-year-old succeeds to the throne, George has already expressed interest in other career areas as well.
Case in point: In 2024, a local restaurant owner in Norfolk revealed that the young prince may have a desire to work in the food industry. Desmond MacCarthy, owner of Wiveton Hall Cafe, told The Daily Mail that during a visit to his eatery, George was excited to be inside the kitchen.

Once he saw the wood-fired pizza oven, he was reportedly enamored. According to MacCarthy, George declared: “That’s what I want to do when I grow up!”
“They came here with their friends, because Sandringham isn’t that far away,” MacCarthy said, referring to King Charles’s rural retreat, where the Prince and Princess of Wales have their holiday home, Anmer Hall.

Studying to become a chef could be a possibility for George. He is not expected to serve in the Armed Forces before becoming king like his dad, Prince William, and his grandfather, King Charles, breaking a centuries-old tradition. George is keeping in line with the men in his immediate family, though, by attending the all-boys boarding school at Eton, kicking off his first year on September 8. Both his father and uncle, Prince Harry, attended the school, which is located not far from William and Kate’s Windsor home.
George, who, despite his reported shyness, has a plethora of other interests to keep him busy in the years before he takes the throne. Prince William has previously opened up about a favorite hobby of his son’s while visiting Birtley Community Pool in Tyne and Wear, England.

“George loves scuba diving. We took him under thinking he would freak out. He absolutely loves it,” the Prince of Wales told Olympic swimmers Adam Peaty and Tom Dean during the engagement, adding: “It’s just introducing him to the world of water.”
