Chopra Jonas shares daughter Malti Marie, 3½, with husband Nick Jonas

Priyanka Chopra Jonas may have bodyguards, but they aren't just for her.

In a new interview with Variety, the actress, 43, spoke about why she has security when she goes out in public with her family — husband Nick Jonas, 33, and their 3½-year-old daughter Malti Marie. While Chopra Jonas said she's okay with having her photograph taken, she prefers to have security around her for the protection of her toddler.

"I am OK with being approached by anyone and taking photos, and they know that I love people coming to talk to me," Chopra Jonas said of her security team. "They were there to make sure we're not being recorded without consent."

"That's my biggest thing with everyone having cellphones. It happens often, especially with my daughter," she continued. "We're in the park or having ice cream, and suddenly I'll see it online. My security is for that reason. Otherwise, I don't need it. Nobody's gonna kill me."

Earlier this month, the "Jealous" singer spoke about welcoming his baby daughter with his wife Chopra Jonas, revealing on an episode of Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast that Malti “came to the world under, sort of, very intense circumstances.”

“We were expecting her to arrive in April of the year she was born, and we get a call that it’s going to be sooner. So basically, we went into action," he recalled. “We got to the hospital, and she came out. She was 1 pound, 11 ounces, and ... purple."

He explained, "These angels at the NICU resuscitated her in that moment, and got her taken care of really quickly and intubated and everything else."

Jonas noted that because Malti was born amid the COVID-19 pandemic, he and his wife "would basically do 12-hour shifts at the hospital for three and a half months."

"I could still sort of like, smell it, you know, there's always visceral things. It's, it's ... it was both comforting and frightening, to be there every day and to see other families going through similar situations."

Jonas said that his daughter Malti "fought every day for three and a half months and slowly started to gain some weight." She received six blood transfusions, and was "doing great," and the new parents got to take her home "after three and a half months."

"I feel like she knows how she entered the world and what that first chapter of her life was like," the musician explained. "And so every day is a gift, and you can actually feel it in her in the way that she behaves and how exciting everything is."

In October, Malti was able to join her dad on tour as he embarked on the Greetings from Your Hometown tour alongside the Jonas Brothers. Chopra Jonas shared a carousel on Instagram from some of the shows, which featured their daughter Malti.

The first snap of many in the post saw the Heads of State actress beaming for the camera, while another clip showed the band singing "Happy Birthday" to Kevin Jonas' daughter, Valentina, to celebrate her 9th birthday. Chopra Jonas and her sister-in-law, Danielle Jonas, watched and clapped from the side of the stage.

A further shot showed Chopra Jonas and Danielle watching the show together, as Chopra Jonas was seen standing with her mom, Madhu Chopra, and friends in a different image.

The actress also shared a video showing Malti holding a pink toy microphone as her dad sang her favorite song, "Love Me To Heaven," in the background, while another snap showed the Jonas Brothers' mom, Denise, holding the toddler and smiling for the camera.

The Quantico star captioned the post, "On tour with daddy is always a good time 🧿🥰," as Nick responded, "What a vibe. So gorgeous."
