Queen Elizabeth's alleged reaction upon learning of the car crash that would claim Princess Diana's life has now come to light.

In Earl Charles Spencer's new book, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, he claims the late Queen responded to news of the Princess of Wales's accident with just a six-word question.

According to Diana's brother, the Queen asked, "What is she up to now?" — a remark he described as delivered "tetchily," meaning in a manner suggesting irritability or impatience. This revelation comes as Harry and Meghan reportedly made their most outrageous demand yet — one the King is said to be firmly rejecting.

Earl Spencer went on to write, "This was before the seriousness of it all became clear," clarifying that the Queen commented before the Royal Family understood the crash had proven fatal.

Princess Diana died on August 31, 1997, from injuries sustained in a high-speed car crash inside the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris, France. She perished alongside her partner, Dodi Fayed, and their driver, reports the Express US.

Their bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones, survived the collision, as he was the only occupant wearing a seatbelt.

The beloved royal suffered catastrophic internal injuries, including a ruptured pulmonary vein, yet remained conscious enough to speak with emergency responders when they arrived on the scene. Despite intensive medical efforts to save her life, she passed away at 4.53 a.m. local time.

In the wake of Diana's death, there were reportedly conflicting views regarding where the beloved mother of two should be laid to rest.

Detailing the circumstances in his memoir, Earl Spencer wrote, "After Diana's death, the Queen said she wanted Diana's coffin to be placed in the royal burial ground at Frogmore near Windsor Castle, where princes and princesses generally end up."

Nevertheless, the Earl maintained that his family was "determined" to have Diana interred at Althorp, their ancestral estate in Northamptonshire, England.

"We knew she would have wanted to do so. Besides, having her HRH title removed as part of the package of humiliation handed to her at her divorce, almost a year to the day before her death, Diana was no longer eligible for royal Frogmore," he explained.

Earl Spencer further revealed that Diana was "hurt" by the stripping of her HRH title, suggesting this deepened the sense that a royal burial would have been wholly inappropriate.

"The loss was designed to emphasize to her, and the world, that her royal days were over," the father of seven claimed. "She, who had been recognized around the world as such a singular asset to the Royal Family (apart from by some of that institution's more jealous members), should, they believed, just accept that she should be returned to the ranks of a commoner. At least this pettiness helped to save her from some meaningless burial plot in Frogmore."

This revelation comes amid reports that a 'disturbed' Prince William grew furious with Meghan Markle over the disappearance of Princess Diana's diamonds.
