Tate McRae is facing criticism for her latest sponsored post in partnership with Neutrogena

The singer shared a ā€œpost show rotineā€ video from an airplane featuring three of the brand’s products

Commenters are calling her out for the way she did and didn’t use the products in the video

Tate McRae is facing backlash after a ā€œpost show routineā€ video she shared on TikTok last weekend.

The singer, who performed at the Osheaga music festival on Aug. 1 before hopping on a plane to head to Chicago for Lollapalooza, shared the video featuring three Neutrogena products as part of her getting unready process. McRae was named a global ambassador for the brand in early 2025.

In the video, McRae, 23, holds up the makeup remover wipes, then the brand’s Hydro Boost Water Gel, followed by its new under eye patches.

However, commenters pointed out that it didn’t actually look like McRae was using the products. While applying the makeup wipes, it appears she has her fingers between the wipe and her skin. When she follows that step with moisturizer, the video only shows her applying it on her cheeks. She completes her routine by putting on under eye patches, then blows a kiss to the camera.

The post had drawn 1.1 million likes by Friday, Aug. 7, in the comments section of the TikTok people called out the Grammy nominee for not properly using the products in the sponsored content. Several questioned how or why the brand approved the video before it was posted. At the end of the clip, McRae still had visible eye makeup on her face, which commenters also noted.

PEOPLE reached out to Neutrogena and a rep for McRae for comment but didn’t immediately hear back.

McRae’s makeup artist, Kennedy, told PEOPLE after the singer’s headlining set at Lollapalooza that she used a full face of Neutrogena products to prep the star for the show.

ā€œFor her skin base, we used the new Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Rejuvenating Serum, the new Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Hydrogel Eye Patches and the classic Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Water Gel,ā€ Kennedy says. This was followed by a list of Neutrogena makeup products.

The ā€œGreedyā€ singer was named a Neutrogena global ambassador in early 2025. At the time, she told PEOPLE that when she’s on tour, she likes to head to bed almost immediately after a show, but before she does, she uses her go-to Neutrogena products.

ā€œI’ll use my Neutrogena wipes and take off my makeup. Then, I’ll usually go in with a light cleanser. And then, I obviously use the Hydro Boost Water Gel,ā€ she said, adding that she’s long been a fan of the brand.

ā€œI’ve been using [the Hydro Boost] moisturizer for so many years, so [a partnership with Neutrogena] felt very natural and exciting.ā€
