It’s a rare occasion when we see Taylor Swift in anything other than a miniskirt or dress. The pop superstar tends to favor the feminine pieces over pants, and over the years, we’ve come to fall in love with her pleated schoolgirl skirts—often in preppy plaid patterns—and flirty little dresses. But her latest look is something a bit different—call it a quietly luxurious, mature take on her go-to uniform.

Last night, the “Opalite” singer dressed for a New York City spring, pulling out a skirt, but trading her favorite micro silhouette for a maxi. The piece in question was a silky bone-white skirt that sat high on the musician’s hips and nearly grazed the floor as she walked. Swift paired the romantic staple with a breezy black spaghetti-strap top.

Another usual choice? Her footwear. Rather than opt for tall boots, shimmery platforms, or chunky loafers, the showgirl reached for a chic pair of strappy black stiletto sandals.

The surprisingly minimalist look was rounded out by a black Christian Dior 30 Montaigne Avenue top-handle bag and layers of mixed-metal jewelry: dangly earrings and several gold and silver chain necklaces. When she got chilly, Swift layered on a luxurious navy wool coat.

Her style may have looked different, but one thing that didn’t change was Swift’s glam. The 14-time Grammy Award winner had her hair styled in an easy low bun, with her bangs blown out, accentuated her eyes with streaks of black eyeliner, and popped on a bright red lip.
